1. Eu CE Certification (Mandatory
Core directives: Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU), Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2014/30/EU).
- Key criteria
EN ISO 13849-1: Safety-related components for control systems - General design rules. Pay particular attention to the safety performance grade (PL) of the brake control system.
EN ISO 12100: Mechanical safety - General design rules. It covers the principles of risk assessment and risk reduction.
EN 60204-1: Mechanical safety - Mechanical electrical equipment. It involves electrical safety requirements.
- Key points for certification: The manufacturer needs to conduct a risk assessment to ensure that the brake meets the corresponding safety performance level (such as PLc, PLe), verify its performance (such as braking torque, response time, durability) through testing, and provide complete technical documents.
2. North American certification (voluntary, but often required for market access)
- UL certification: Issued by Underwriters Laboratories in the United States, it focuses on the safety performance of products.
- CSA Certification: Certified by the Canadian Standards Association, it holds authority in the Canadian market.
- Key criteria
UL 508 (Industrial Control Equipment)
CSA C22.2 No. 14 (Industrial Control Equipment)
NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code of the United States)
Key points of certification: Focus on electrical safety, fire resistance performance, weather resistance of materials, etc.
3. International standard ISO
ISO 14118: Mechanical Safety - Preventing Accidental Startup. Requirements are put forward for the "fail-safe" design of the brake.
ISO 13850: Mechanical Safety - Emergency Stop Function. If the brake integrates an emergency stop function, it must comply with this standard.
4.China Compulsory Certification (CCC)
Some specific types of industrial brakes may be included in the CCC catalogue (the latest catalogue needs to be checked), and they can only be sold after obtaining certification.
5. National Standard (GB)
GB/T 3811: Code for Design of Cranes (Detailed requirements for brakes used in cranes).
GB 5226.1: Mechanical and electrical Safety - Mechanical and electrical equipment. Similar to IEC 60204-1.
GB/T 18849: Mechanical Safety - Safety-related components for control systems (equivalent to ISO 13849-1).
GB/T 15706: Mechanical Safety - General Design Rules (equivalent to ISO 12100).
