What exactly does the inspection check?
Braking torque
Can it effectively stop under the rated load? This is the most core indicator.
Wear amount
Whether the wear of the friction lining/brake pad exceeds the limit (usually 30% to 50% of the original thickness).
Brake clearance
Whether the clearance between the brake shoe and the brake wheel/disk is uniform and meets the set value.
Response time
The delay from issuing the command to complete braking (for example, electromagnetic brakes often require ≤100ms).
Appearance and structure
Whether there are cracks or oil stains on the brake wheel, whether the hinge points are stuck, and whether the springs have plastic deformation.
Thermal stability
Whether the friction coefficient decays after continuous braking (thermal fade rate).
How to check daily?
• Per shift/daily: Check the braking effect, for any abnormal sounds or odors, the wear of the friction plates, and the articulation for any sticking.
• Weekly: Measure the wear amount, adjust the clearance, check the fastening of bolts, and inspect the surface of the brake wheel.
• Monthly/Quarterly: Test braking torque, inspect spring/lever fatigue, lubricate moving parts.
• Annually/Major Overhaul: Disassemble and inspect overall wear, replace life-limited parts, test electrical insulation, re-commission the system.
