Working Principle
The working principle of electromagnetic drum brake is based on the attraction and release of electromagnets to control braking. When power is on, the electromagnetic coil generates a magnetic field, which attracts the brake components of the brake to separate from the working components, allowing the moving object to move freely; when power is off, the magnetic field disappears, and the brake components contact the working components under the action of spring force and generate friction to achieve braking. This type of brake can be divided into normally open type and normally closed type. The normally closed type brakes when power is off and releases when power is on.

🛠️ What are the key points in the maintenance of electromagnetic drum brakes?
Check the flexibility of the manual brake release: ensure that the manual brake release lever can be operated flexibly
Check the looseness of each component: check whether the key parts such as the red paint are loose
Check for rust: Check the surfaces of the brake for rust
Check the braking torque: Make sure the braking torque is sufficient
Check the surface of the brake hub: Check whether there is black carbide on the surface of the brake hub
Check the thickness of the friction plate: Make sure the thickness of the friction plate is not less than the specified value, the thickness of the friction plate of the brake wheel below 495mm is not less than 3mm, and the thickness of the friction plate of other wheels is not less than 4mm.
Check the action of the electromagnet moving iron core: ensure that the moving iron core is flexible and does not get stuck
Check the remaining travel of the brake: ensure that the remaining travel meets the requirements, and the limit value must not be less than 0.5mm
Replace the shock absorber pads: The shock absorber pads at both ends of the electromagnet should be replaced in time every 2 million times or 2 years or when the noise becomes louder.
Check whether the brake is rusted inside: If the brake is not used for more than 6 months and is stored in a humid environment, check whether the brake is rusted inside before use. If rusted, the corresponding parts should be replaced.
Regular lubrication and maintenance: The surface of the brake's moving core is coated with high-temperature resistant grease, and the magnet needs to be disassembled and maintained regularly, with a maintenance cycle of once every 12 months.
Cleaning and inspection: After disassembling the brake arm assembly, check the flexibility of the electromagnet moving core, and clean the surface of the moving core and the surface of the end cover, as well as the wear debris and oil stains on the part supporting the moving core in the housing.
Check the wear: Check the radial wear of the moving iron core body and the moving iron core rod. If the wear and scratches do not meet the replacement requirements, use sandpaper to smooth them and there should be no step feeling.
Check the contact scratches: Check the scratches caused by the contact between the end of the moving iron core and the brake release rod. If the scratches are higher than the surface, they must be corrected and leveled.
Adjust the brake clearance: Check the clearance between the friction plate and the brake wheel regularly. If there is friction, adjust the brake clearance.
Check the brake opening voltage: After adjustment, ensure that the brake opening voltage is not less than 80% of the rated voltage.
