Industrial Crane Safety Disc Brakes
The SBD Crane Safety Disc Brake is a high-power braking device used on low-speed shafts (drum shafts), and can be widely applied to the emergency safety braking of low-speed shafts in large and medium-sized cranes, port handling machinery lifting, and boom hoisting mechanisms. Working braking and emergency safety braking for mine winches, hoists and high-power inclined belt conveyors, safety braking for the drive mechanisms of cable cars and cable-stayed cranes, and safety (emergency) braking for the low-speed shafts of the hoisting mechanisms of special cranes such as casting cranes.
Description
Industrial Industrial Crane Safety Disc Brakess

The SBD series industrial disc brake is a normally closed hydraulic safety braking device that uses disc springs to apply braking force and hydraulic pressure to release it. It features quick response and short closing time, making it widely used in heavy-duty industrial applications such as port machinery, mining hoisting equipment, and wind power generation.

Fine adjustment after brake shoe wear during normal operation
- Pad wear thin → brake release clearance increases (must adjust if >2 mm), or reset the clearance after replacing new pads:
- Set the hydraulic station to the release pressure, and measure the single-side clearance at four or more evenly distributed points around the disc using a feeler gauge.
- Excessive clearance: Loosen the adjusting sleeve locknut → Turn the adjusting sleeve or adjustment bolt forward (inward) to advance the brake shoe backplate → While turning, rotate the disc and recheck.
- Both brake shoes of a brake unit must be adjusted simultaneously. After adjustment, repeatedly raise and lower the oil pressure (release-brake) 3 to 5 times, then re-measure; only when the values stabilize is the process complete.
- If equipped with a return spring (non-hydraulic cylinder rear-mounted type), also check that the return spring is not compressed solidly, otherwise braking torque will be lost.
- After adjustment, perform a sudden power loss test: when the system suddenly loses power, the brake shoes should immediately engage without delay or sticking.
