• Ambient temperature: –20℃ ~ +50℃ using DB-25 hydraulic oil, lower than -20℃ with YH-10 aviation hydraulic oil, not mounted heaters; using DB-25 hydraulic oil must be retrofitted with heaters.

• Voltages: AC 3 phase 380V, 50Hz (Other voltage can be made as required)

How to select the right model

1. specify the brake: Determine the YWZ series, brake drum diameter, and required braking torque. Ensure the thruster force exceeds the spring force required to release the brake, while allowing for a safety margin.
2. determine the stroke: The brake shoe clearance and lever ratio dictate the pushrod stroke; an insufficient stroke prevents full release, while an excessive stroke causes impact or adjustment difficulties.
3. Consider duty cycle and frequency: For high-cycle applications (>600–1000 operations/hour), select a unit rated for a higher duty cycle or step up to the next size; clarify whether the operation is S1 (continuous) or S3 (intermittent).
4. Assess the environment: Standard specifications are IP65 and -20°C to 40°C. Temperatures below -20°C require low-temperature hydraulic fluid or a heater; use BEd models for explosion-proof zones; apply anti-corrosion treatment for corrosive environments.
5. Replacing YT1 models: Prioritize matching thrust and stroke. Ed series thrusters offer multi-angle mounting and generally superior energy efficiency and protection, but verify mounting hole dimensions and center height against the product drawing.

Q1: What is an ED Electro-Hydraulic Thruster used for?

A: It is a fail-safe actuator for drum and disc brakes (e.g., YWZ, YWZ5, YWZ9, YWL series). When energized, it pushes the brake open; when power fails, the brake spring automatically closes it. Widely used in cranes, hoists, winches, ports, and mining equipment.

Q2: How does the ED thruster work?

A: When powered, the built-in motor drives a centrifugal pump to build hydraulic pressure, pushing the piston rod upward to release the brake. When de-energized, pressure drops and the main spring forces the rod back, applying the brake. This "fail-safe" design ensures safety during power loss

Q3: How do I choose the correct ED model for my brake?

A: You need to match three key parameters:

Thrust (N): Must be ≥ the brake spring force (e.g., Ed50/6 = 500N, Ed201/6 = 2000N).

Stroke (mm): Match the brake shoe clearance (60mm for short stroke, 120mm for long stroke).

Voltage/Frequency: Standard is 380V/50Hz; we also support 220V, 440V, 480V, 60Hz, etc.
