SE Series Electromagnetic Failsafe Disc Brakes

The SE series consists of normally closed, spring-applied, electromagnetically released disc brakes. Their key characteristic is that the electromagnetic coil is energized during normal equipment operation, keeping the brake disengaged. In the event of a power failure, loss of control circuit power, or an emergency stop, the springs immediately force the friction pads to clamp onto the brake disc, bringing the drive shaft to a halt and holding it in a braked state; consequently, these are classified as "fail-safe" brakes.

When selecting a model, the following parameters must be confirmed:
Brake disc diameter, thickness, and effective radius;
Required braking torque and safety factor;
Axial and radial installation space, as well as mounting hole dimensions;
Coil rated voltage and compatible power supply;
Operating frequency, number of braking cycles, and heat dissipation conditions;
Ingress protection (IP) rating, ambient temperature, and exposure to corrosive substances or dust;
Whether a wear-monitoring switch, brake-release feedback, or a manual release mechanism is required.
