How to choose crane brakes in different environments?

Sep 09, 2020

The choice of brake type is mainly based on the product standard requirements and actual needs of the host or organization to determine the brake type. As the standard stipulates: the lifting mechanism and the luffing mechanism must be equipped with normally closed brakes, and the walking or slewing mechanism can choose normally closed brakes.

Consider the place of use. If the brake is installed with enough space, block type, band brake or arm type disc brake can be selected; when the space is limited, the inner shoe type or caliper disc brake can be selected.

Consider the use environment of the supporting host. Electromagnetic or pneumatic brakes should be selected for occasions with strict requirements for oil leakage. For metallurgical places with higher ambient temperatures, electric hydraulic brakes or metallurgical electromagnetic brakes with higher insulation levels can be selected. When the ambient temperature is low or high, and the electric hydraulic brake is used in the open place, pay attention to changing the hydraulic oil of the corresponding brand. In environments with iron filings and severe dust, the use of electromagnet brakes should be avoided to prevent dust from entering the electromagnet gap and affecting the attraction of the electromagnet. For special or important occasions, additional functions of the brake should be added as needed. In a low temperature environment, the heater of the electric hydraulic pusher can be used. When there are strict requirements for the conversion between starting and braking process, install a travel switch to understand the opening and closing state of the brake. For environments where maintenance and adjustment are difficult to implement, a brake gap equalization device and a friction lining wear automatic compensation device can be installed. Adding a manual brake release device can manually open the brake under special circumstances.
