YPL12.7 Hydraulic Caliper Disc Brakes
the YPL12.7-A Hydraulic Caliper Disc Brake is a specialized component designed for heavy-duty industrial applications, particularly in drilling rigs and other high-load machinery.Hydraulic Actuation: Operates via hydraulic pressure to engage brake pads against a rotor, generating friction for controlled deceleration. The system translates fluid pressure into mechanical force through pistons within the caliper .
Description
YPL12.7 Hydraulic Caliper Disc Brakes
Working Principle

The YPL12.7 hydraulic disc brake consists of two major parts: the brake frame and the cylinder (see the structural diagram). When the hydraulic cylinder 1 is supplied with oil, the piston rod 5 rapidly retracts into the cylinder under the action of air pressure. The left and right brake arms, driven by the reset spring 4, quickly open the friction blocks 12 (i.e., release the brake). When the oil supply to the cylinder stops and the piston rod 5 is rapidly extended by the spring force inside the cylinder, it pushes the left and right brake arms to close the friction blocks 12 (i.e., apply the brake).
Installation of the Brake
1. First, check if there is any oil sludge or other dirt on the brake disc and the braking surface of the brake pad.
2. Install the G1/4" connection head on the oil inlet of cylinder 1, and connect the oil pipe with a hose.
3. When installing, first apply oil pressure to retract the piston rod 5 into the cylinder. Then, insert the friction block 12 vertically into the brake disc along the axis direction. Next, fix the base 9 horizontally on the rigid frame, ensuring that the centerline of the base is in line with the thickness center of the brake disc. The installation position dimensions are shown in the structural diagram.
Debugging
1. Adjust the base oil pressure value, which should be within the range of 8-12 Mpa.
2. Before normal operation, first test the brake several times to check for any abnormal phenomena.
3. The clearance of the friction block can be adjusted by rotating the adjustment rod 6 to change the working stroke. When adjusting the rod, first supply hydraulic oil to retract the piston rod, and then make the adjustment.

Maintenance
When the brake pads wear out, the working stroke of the brake increases. When the working stroke reaches 8mm, component 6 must be adjusted immediately to reset the working stroke to approximately 4mm; otherwise, the brake will fail. After adjustment, tighten nut 7. When the friction block 12 wears down to about 6mm, it needs to be replaced. The replacement steps are as follows:
1. First, pull out the spring steel wire 11 on the brake block and remove the friction block 12.
2. Then insert the new friction block into the U-shaped groove of the brake block, insert the spring steel wire, and check if the installed friction block is secure.
